Piano Notes Newsletter
June / July 2017
What a wonderful start to the 2017 Summer Term! The first week of lessons went very very well! The next 4 weeks we are shaking it up a bit with “There’s an app for that!”! This is a fun incentive for Summer Students in having their own “Piano Phone” with apps. More information will be sent home at the next lesson!

WSMTA/GHMTA Music Olympics High Honors
Three students were in High Honors at the Music Olympics in April. Congrats to Elliot Watkins, Hania Bielec & Lucas Strom!
As a teacher, I believe in continuing to learn and improve so I can be the best teacher possible for my students. Here’s a sample of some of the ways I continue my own education year-round.
● Private Lessons & Master Classes (yes, most music teachers continue taking lessons)
● Online Training through various schools
● Webinars through GHMTA, WSTMA & MTNA
● GHMTA & WSTMA Meetings/Conferences
● American Music Teacher Journal
● Clavier magazine
Current students who take 30 minutes lessons will need to register BEFORE July 15th. After July 15th I will no longer be offering 30 minutes lessons. The 45 minute lesson will be replacing the 30 minute lesson. This will allow students to make faster progress and review concepts more thoroughly during the lesson so that practice (between lessons) is easier. Group Classes will remain the same unless otherwise notified. The benefits of Group Classes for students are performance practice, theory games, & getting to bond with their peers. It also helps students to know that others are in it with them!
The 2017/2018 Academic Term Registration & updated Studio Policies were emailed out - you may click here to print out the registration. Your registration & first payment are due before July 15th. I will accept registrations & first payment after July 15th but, again, there will no longer be 30 minute lessons & there is a rate increase. So I cannot stress enough for everyone to get their registrations & 1st payment in before July 15th.
Musically Yours, Ms. Nikkol
