Dress Code & Etiquette
Whenever you play piano, whether it’s for a school event, a private event, or a studio event, you represent not only yourself but Daniels Music Studio; so dress and perform your best.
There are guidelines and rules of behavior all performers and audience members should follow during all recitals or concerts. Because of the impact on the students, I remain firm on these policies. I feel very strongly that it is a vital component in the program I am working with students (your child) and that their work must be respected and honored. Please give EVERY student the same level of courtesy and respect that you expect for your student. Invite as many friends and family members as you'd like.
STUDENTS should wear appropriate attire. Girls in knee-length or longer dresses, slacks or leggings; boys in dress pants/slacks/nice jeans and buttoned dress shirts with ties or polo shirts or suits. NO dangling or jingling jewelry, no spaghetti straps, no platform shoes, no flip-flops, no athletic footwear, no holes, rips or tears in clothes please.
>TIP<Practice in your outfit, shoes included. Trust me on this one!
Arrive at the requested time in order to learn where you are to sit & to receive instructions for the performance.
Once the recital begins, respect your peers, listen and have a zero-level voice; Unnecessary noise from whispering, giggling, talking, candy wrappers, playing video games, etc. during a program is not acceptable.
AUDIENCE members must remember the purpose of their visit to the event is listen quietly, actively and appreciatively to the music being offered by the performers. Students, parents and guests are expected to stay for the entire program. Attending a recital just to hear your student, and then leaving before the other performers have finished is not acceptable.
Turn off all cell phones and any electrical devices that may produce sound. Flash photography is prohibited during a performance. You may videotape during the recital as long as you’re not blocking other peoples’ view. You may take flash photography after the recital is over. If you arrive late, please wait to enter between pieces when you hear applause this includes if you need to use the restroom. Do not switch seats while someone is performing. PLEASE refrain from whistling, yelling, "cat-calling", "whooping" or other loud methods of congratulations, especially prior to the performance. When this happens, students can become very distracted which can throw off students’ performance.
