About the Teacher
My name is Nikkol Wirta-Daniels, students call me either Ms. Nikkol or Ms. Nikki and during the weekday you can find me working at Aberdeen High School as as well as AHS Girls' JV Fastpitch Coach (February through May/June).
I began my music adventure at age 4, classically trained at age 7 & started teaching piano lessons at age 15 under the direction of Laura Boyer & Judy Reynvaan as well as a mentorship with Helena Smith and have been professionally playing piano since I was 16.
I take my passion, art & business of music very seriously; I strive to maintain high standards & ethics in my studio & teachings. As a member of GHMTA, WSMTA & MTNA, students have opportunities that they would otherwise not have access to.
It is very important to me that my students understand basic music concepts, comprehend elements of music & interpret music creatively. Students should be imaginative, creative, & inspired to feel their lives being enriched by music. My long term goals for students to be a better person through music and that they make music a part of their life that will last them a lifetime.
As a music teacher my role is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for students to learn and grow. It is important for learning to take place in such an environment so that students are free to be themselves, as well as free to make mistakes. This way, mistakes happen in a safe and forgiving environment where students can learn from them before they have to learn those lessons in the real world.
About the Studio
The studio isn’t affiliated with any school district. However, I follow the Aberdeen School District calendar and lessons are to be treated with the same level of importance as school & sports. Students have access to a Baldwin acoustic piano, lending library & other supporting materials. My students will learn Music Terminology, Rhythm, Sight-Reading, Technique, Theory, & History which are covered during the year. Students are encouraged to explore various styles & bring music to their lessons that they would like to learn
PROGRAMS & SERVICES
Piano/Keyboard Lessons (ages 5 thru 18): Individual and Group classes are 45 minutes in length. Group classes are once a month in place of individual lessons. The benefits of Group Classes for students are performance practice, theory games, & getting to bond with their peers. It also helps students to know that others are in it with them! There are no Group Classes during the Summer Term.
Adult Piano/Keyboard Recreational Music (ages 18+): As a beginner or someone who hasn't played in a while, adults can succeed in lessons. Most importantly, they can use music as a stress reliever, for relaxation, and family enjoyment.
MAP (Music Artistry Program – Adjudications): The Music Artistry Program of the Washington State Music Teachers Association is a self-supporting enterprise developed to encourage interest in music and to maintain standards of fine workmanship among student musicians. Each student and ensemble will be given a written evaluation and oral comments from the visiting artist and will be presented a certificate. The Music Artistry Program encourages and enlists parental interest and support and provides a wholesome outlet for community pride.
MLP (Music Literacy Program – Music Olympics): This noncompetitive program consists of ten progressive levels. This program provides a music event evaluating the progressive growth of ALL students – those studying music as a hobby as well as those aspiring to enter the music world professionally.
Accompaniment & Performance: I accompany studio & non-studio musicians, in competitions, festivals, & other music events. I also perform as a pianist/keyboardist & vocalist for various events: school concerts, weddings, funerals, dinner parties & church services.
Song Styling & Arrangements: I rearrange & style songs for musicians of all levels who perform publicly. This is a time consuming process and prices are tiered based on client’s needs/wants.
