My name is Nikkol Wirta-Daniels & my students call me Ms. Nikkol. I was born in McCleary, WA & raised in Aberdeen, WA, graduated from Aberdeen High School, attended WWU, GHC, SMU & just graduated from GCU with a teaching degree in secondary education. I am a mom of two awesome kiddos, Nadia (going into her senior year at WSU - GO COUGS!) and Ella who's been busy with sports and getting ready for 8th grade.
I began my music adventure at age 4, classically trained at age 7 & by the age of 15 I was teaching private piano lessons under the direction of Laura Boyer & Judy Reynvaan as well as a mentorship with Helena Smith and have been professionally playing piano since I was 16.
Music is my passion and I take my business & professionalism of music seriously as well as with a sense of humor; I strive to maintain high standards & ethics in my studio & teachings in order for my students to progress. It is very important to me that my students understand basic music concepts, comprehend elements of music & interpret music creatively. Students should be imaginative, creative, & inspired to feel their lives being enriched by music. My long-term goal is for my students to be a better person through music and that they make music a part of their life that will last them a lifetime.
As a music teacher, my role is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for students to learn and grow. It is important for learning to take place in such an environment so that students are free to be themselves, as well as free to make mistakes because mistakes can happen in a safe and forgiving environment where students learn from them before they have to learn those lessons in the real world.
As a reminder... I am a music teacher, not a miracle worker. Students that put in the effort reap the rewards!
About the Studio
The studio isn’t affiliated with any school district. However, lessons are to be treated with the same level of importance as academics & sports. Students have access to an acoustic piano, lending library & other supporting materials. My students will learn music terminology, rhythm, sight-reading, technique, theory, & history and the basics as needed which are covered during the year. Students are encouraged to explore various styles & bring music to their lessons that they would like to learn. Click here to get more information on lessons and programs available.
